Zaruhi Postanjyan defamed Nikol Pashinyan: the Court of Appeal reaffirmed
17 October, 2022Back in February 2021, Zaruhi Postanjyan made defamatory statements while answering the journalist's questions at the “Asekose” club.
Partner, advocate in “AM” Law Firm David Hunanyan filed a claim in court, demanding Zaruhi Postanjyan to deny the defamation and to pay compensation to Nikol Pashinyan.
As a result of the court investigation that lasted for almost a year, on April 28, 2022, the court made a decision obliging Z. Postanjyan to publicly deny the defamation and pay compensation to Mr. Pashinyan.
However, the court considered that it was not clear from Ms. Postanjyan's words what she meant when she called Nikol Pashinyan an agent.
Nikol Pashinyan and Zaruhi Postanjyan appealed that decision. As a result, on September 27 of this year, the Court of Appeal satisfied Nikol Pashinyan's complaint, and rejected Zaruhi Postanjyan's complaint that she did not defame Nikol Pashinyan.
